Does anyone know if this site is a scam or looks like it could be a scam? Parrots For Adoption

I think it has to be a scam. I plugged the address in and it shows a vacant lot. It says the birds are for adoption but there's a cart, like you purchase them. It's very rare for rescues to have hys and I didn't think we even had Gang Gangs in this country. And they have a review for Cananda but no rescue that I know of is going to go through all the hurdles to get a bird adopted to Canada. There are too many rules and regulations. If you tell us your area, we can suggest some legitimate rescues or you can look on Petfinder of Petstablished.

I found this on the Better Business Bureau website:

They are a scam!! They have two websites: parrotsforsale.com and parrotsforadoption.org with two different addresses, one in ******* and one in **.This is the information they list on the non-profit foundation web site: Parrots Rescue and Adoption Foundation ************************************************************************************** I paid $350 thru a Zelle transfer from my checking account to reserve and rescue *****, an African Gray baby parrot on October 22. I requested to schedule her delivery after November 4th upon my return from a business trip. Ever since I made the payment, I've sent dozens of messages via email and WhatsApp to "*****" and after a couple of lame excuses about the delay they stopped responding my communications. I called, emailed, texted them and left voice messages. Nobody responds. The $350 are not as important to me as the fact that they are making profit of unsuspected people who are trying to do the right thing by adopting/rescuing from a non-profit foundation. Please let me know what can be done for this to stop them from doing this to other unsuspected victims.

We thought so- we have been in contact with Baby Indian Ringneck - Parrots4homes as well and the responses about the green Indian ringnecks seem legit? When I asked what Indian ringnecks they had available they listed the colors they had and when I asked about the green ones (which is the one we wanted) they said they are available but not yet weaned and that they were only 6 weeks old. I asked when they would be weaned and they said not until they are 3 months and proceeded to tell me that they do not recommend buying a baby that is not weaned as it is bad for them. I asked if we could reserve one while we decided if we wanted to buy one and they said yes but I though it was odd that they didn’t make us buy one first in order to reserve it. Sorry for the long message! Thank you so much for your help, we are in Mississippi

My computer won't even let me open that website. It says security warning. And it says the address is Canada. You're not going to get a bird from Canada. There are really strict import rules. So, yes, scam.

There are a lot of bird scams out there. It depends whether you're interested in adopting or getting a bird from a breeder. If adopting, you can look on Petfinder or Wagtopia to see if there are any rescues in your state. They may not have IRNS currently but sometimes they will approve you for adoption and then notify you if an IRN comes in. If looking for a baby, perhaps post something starting a new thread asking for IRN breeder suggestions. I know of one person where I am but it's too far away from you but others here might have a recommendation.

This is the easy part. Save any picture from their website and put it into Google's image page. It will search for that image or similar pictures. Scammers almost always steal pictures from other breeders and use it on their site. Sometimes they don't even take a watermark off. If you find that picture somewhere else, don't even bother with them.

This is the technical part. Look up the domain information. I looked up parrotsforadoption.org and it shows it was created in January of this year. They say they are located in Warwick, RI, but their domain is registered by a company in Iceland and hosted by a web host in Wyoming. That seems overly complicated when there are plenty of companies in the United States that are one-stop shops and can do all of it for you. They do it to hide their tracks. If you have the time, you can report them to the registrar or web host and get them shut down. The sad part is, that they will move the domain to another host and be up and running again in a few days.

They were clever. There is a parrot rescue on that same street in Warwick, Rhode Island, but that was never their web address.
