hi. one of my females has had diarrhea for i think about 3 days now (or 2, but on the 15th i noticed she had some poop accumulated around her vent that had to be cleared out but im unsure was this because of diarrhea). she does lay eggs every now and then and they have had significantly more light so having an egg on the way is not impossible, but i am unsure how to differentiate egg diarrhea and upset tummy diarrhea, or if there even is a way to differentiate those two.
she behaves otherwise normally and does not show any severe symptoms of dehydration or anything alike.
and yes, i am trying to schedule a vet visit but unfortunately the avian vets have been incredibly busy and since her overall wellness is good they aren't taking her in as an emergency patient, at least not yet (and hopefully wont need to).

Diarrhea like liquid fecal matter ?
Diarrhea, unformed liquid fecal matter is more serious in birds and definitely should see a vet promptly.
Eating well? Changes in weight ? I use a digital kitchen scale and just set them on it to weigh. I try to do weekly tho sometimes I go longer , but I do daily if I have issues. This kets me know when my girls have eggs , as their weight goes up. I'm sure it isn't fool proof , but I have yet to have them nit gain weight before an egg. Quakers tho not tiels

i managed to get a slot due to someone cancelling their appointment and visited today because she had to go in due to other reasons too. she has a mild inflammation in her bowels, probably due to large amount of natural bacteria accumulating in her. so upset tummy. should be all good now.

as for the poops, no pictures for now but imagine 15 normal poops in one slimy blotch.

Thanks for the update - that's good to know!

Mine gets softer poops with more water pre-egg, but it's not really entirely diarrhea in that it still has the normal components arranged the normal way, just with more water - they're not slimy. It's good to know that what you're observing means actual diarrhea.
