Should I force him to use flat perches .? My vet seems to think so he has a bad leg and he’s stubborn he doesn’t use his flat perches. should I take out his regular perches ?
With my budgie who had bad legs/feet he got perches padded with fleece and vet wrap. I noticed he particularly liked the extra wide perches. Maybe you could swap them out for wider perches if he'd prefer that?
1 of my Quakers, has 2 feet are inwards, and missing many ttoes on each foot. I have 1 flat perch, and 2 flat wooden platforms in his cage, He also has a rope perch to as well,
Is he having problems using regular, natural-wood perches? If not, I wouldn't remove them. If he is losing his grip, it might be a good idea to lower his regular perches so that they are not too high above the bottom of the cage. Also pad the bottom of the cage with towels or sheets covered with paper (for the mess).
