I think I have Gryphon "loaded" with click=treat.
Here is our progress so far in past two weeks:
He is eagerly stepping up to my arm from inside the cage and removed to another area. I do this every morning after his cage is uncovered.
He is allowing me to touch his feet, rub his beak with thumb and finger. For the last 3 days I have been able to pet him with the back of my hand from his neck to his chest.
He is comfortable enough today that while perched on my arm, he curled one of his feet up and rested for several minutes.
He has also in the last 1-2 wks started using his foot to grasp my fingers when he becomes uncomfortable with my touching him. I have been rewarding him for this behavior. Is this the correct thing to do?
Is he at a point that I can start teaching to target to a stick?
Do I start this from inside the cage or in the "training" area?
His history is he is a YNA, ex-breeder approx. 15+ yrs old. When I first got him he was VERY leary of my hands.
Thanks in advance!
