@SunnySandi Don't you just love a poodles facial expressions? Shirkan rolls his eyes, showing the whites, without turning his head, like he's giving me that "OK Mom" look. It's so funny. I had one female that would curl her lips & smile. I had 8 adults at one time. Try sleeping in the same bed with 8 toy poodles & a spouse, LOL. In was the sardine in the middle!
Shirkan has very thick hair. I like him fluffy, so his jacket often gets to about 8 inches long or more. He often looks like a sheep that needs sheared, LOL. If he gets matted it can take me 3 days of brushing, for hours, to get all the mats out. He just lays in my lap & lets me brush away. From day one he acted like he'd been trained to stand/lay/turn/sit/etc. for grooming, but he hadn't been trained. When I go to do his top knot he lays facing me & just lays still until I'm done. On the grooming table I roll up a towel & tuck it under his chin. I often put 4-5 small ponytails in his top knot & then band them all together.
The detangler spray you got is also a good one. There are many products out there specifically made for poodles. This site has a lot of them:

The choice of slicker brushes varies. I had one I bought over 45 years ago, that finally wore out. I used that same brush on all the poodles I groomed back then. Trying to find one to replace it wasn't easy, as many companies have gone out of business over the years. New products aren't always the best compared to older versions. A good slicker brush will glide thru the hair & not grab it or get get stuck in it. I'm guessing you know "line brushing" using a slicker brush.
When I'd sell a puppy I'd tell people to gently rub their feet, face, ears, tail, put their fingers in their mouth & rub across their teeth, etc. This gets them used to being touched all over & will allow less issues when grooming & with vet checks. I can grab Shirkan's canine teeth & he just holds his mouth open for me. It's a game we play I call "get your teffies". I descale my dogs teeth myself. I found dental tools that work great for tiny poodle teeth at a flea market many years ago. I recently broke the tip off one & can not find a replacement. So I'd suggest if you find a tool/brush/comb/etc. you really like I'd suggest you buy a 2nd one & put it away for future use.
